4-10-16 madison man sentenced in dodge county shooting

A Madison man convicted in a shooting incident in Dodge County has been placed on probation.  Dodge County Circuit judge, John Stork, ordered an imposed and stayed seven year prison sentence for 22 year old Anthony McCaskill.  The judge ordered five years probation with a conditional year and three months in the county jail.  McCaskill was convicted of  Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle, Endangering Safety by Reckless Use of a Firearm and misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of Marijuana.  McCaskill and his girlfriend were confronted by another couple at the Fox Lake Kwik Trip last September.  Both couples got into their cars and  left.  Police say later that evening McCaskill fired on the other vehicle from the highway,  striking it three times.  Nobody was injured. The defendant claimed self-defense but Dodge County District Attorney Kurt F. Klomberg  argued the  shooting was not legally justified.  Klomberg recommended 7 years of prison.
