4-27-16 voter id

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state elections board has decided to ask the Legislature for money to revive efforts to educate the public about photo identification requirements at the polls.  The GAB began a campaign in 2012 but dropped it after a court challenge resulted in delays in the requirements implementation.  The board voted 4-2 on Tuesday afternoon to seek $250,000 from the Joint Finance Committee’s supplemental fund. The panel has only $267,000 in supplemental funding for all state agencies through June 30, 2017.   A spokesman for finance committee co-chairwoman Sen. Alberta Darling said she looks forward to seeing the details of the request. A spokesman for co-chairman Rep. John Nygren didn’t immediately respond to a message.
