1-22-17 clyman man going to prison in heroin overdose death

A Clyman man is going to prison for supplying the heroin that led to the death of a Dodge County woman.   At a hearing Friday Dodge County Circuit judge Brian Pfitzinger sentenced Gabriel Brandl to seven years in prison and 13 years of extended supervision.  Brandl was earlier convicted of first degree reckless homicide in the death of Holly Nehls.  Brandl, an admitted heroin addict, confessed that he and Nehls purchased heroin in Clyman Park from another individual and then he helped Nehls  “shoot up.” Nehls passed out and was placed into her car.  Brandl says he drove around for several hours before he realized Nehls had died.  He eventually turned the body over to the Watertown Hospital staff the following morning.
