6-26-17 former mayville police chief scheduled to make initial court appearance monday

The Mayville mayor says he has full confidence in the Mayville police department even though the case involving the former police chief casts a shadow over the department.  Former chief Christopher MacNeill is scheduled to make his initial Dodge County Circuit Court appearance Monday on charges of misconduct in office and obstructing.   MacNeill is accused of falsifying arrest records to help the son of a fellow officer and friend.  Mayor Rob Boelk told AM 1170’s Between the Lines program says community reaction has been mixed.  Boelk says police need to be held to a higher standard.  “I’m glad the attorney general’s office took it up, reviewed it thoroughly and decided to charge him,”  Boelk said.  “An ordinary citizen, we’d be charged.”   Boelk says he has full confidence in the department moving forward.  The Police and Fire commission is conducting a search for a new permanent chief.
