9-23-17 fdl man sentenced in animal abuse case

The second of two Fond du Lac residents accused of  leaving a harmess on their pet dog for so long it became embedded in the animal’s body has been placed on probation.  Fond du Lac judge Robert Wirtz placed 51 year old Daniel Eisenach on two years probation with 30 days in the county jail.  Earlier this summer 42 year old Amy Shaw was ordered to spend five days in jail followed by two years probation.  Both were convicted of party to the crime mistreatment of animals and disorderly conduct.  According to a criminal complaint a Fond du Lac woman purchased the Pit Bull mix on Facebook as a Christmas present for her family and noticed an infected gash on the dog.  According to the complaint a veterinarian says the harness must have been placed on the dog when he was a puppy and the dog’s growth made the harness embedded.  Fond du Lac Animal Shelter Manager Renee Webb says unfortunately she has seen other pet dogs at the shelter with similar circumstances.    Webb says the dog, Rocco,  has recovered and is living with a new owner.
