A little less than four months after it was put up for sale the Fond du Lac Area Convention and Visitors Bureau building has been sold. Bank of Oakfield president Ryan Kamphuis told WFDL news the bank has purchased the building on Pioneer Road with plans to open a branch office. Kamphuis says regulatory approval is expected in the next couple of weeks with the goal of opening a Fond du Lac branch office sometime next year. The Bank of Oakfield currently has branch offices in Oakfield, Brandon and Van Dyne. Meanwhile, Bureau president Craig Molitor says an announcement is expected soon on a new location for the bureau. Molitor said visibility along I-41 is not as important as some people may think. He says in this digital age, travelers don’t stop at visitor bureaus like they use to.
