6-15-18 child poverty

The director of Kids Forward says the latest poverty numbers show  how misleading the state’s record low unemployment is.  The 10th annual Wisconsin Poverty Report shows that Wisconsin’s poverty rate increased in 2016 despite the state’s job growth during that span.  Ken Taylor says while more Wisconsinites are working, their earnings are not increasing as quickly as costs such as housing, health and child  care.  Still Taylor says he’s confident the Wisconsin poverty rate could be cut in half in the next decade if the state made it a priority.
