2-9-19 life prison sentence for fdl man convicted of child sex assault

A Fond du Lac man convicted of sexually assaulting young boys will spend the rest of his life in prison.  Fond du Lac judge Robert Wirtz sentenced James Rasmussen to 203 years in prison and more than 60 years of extended supervision.  Last November a Fond du Lac jury found Rasmussen guilty of  more than 40 counts of child sex assault.   At sentencing, Judge Wirtz stated Rasmussen’s behavior was “monstrous, narcissistic, and predatory”  and that Rasmussen was a “denier and categorically remorseless.”   Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says the bravery of young boys who testified during the trial may have prevented other children from becoming victims.    Toney says he hopes the conviction sends a message to other sexual assault  victims that his office will do everything it can to bring a perpetrator to justice.
