8-13-19 johnson-border crisis

U.S. Senator Ron Johnson says the solution to addressing the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border is stopping the flow of illegal immigrants at the border.  Senator Johnson says he recently visited an 11 mile stretch of the border near El Paso and says the border patrol there is overwhelmed.  “The problem that we really have is that about a half a million of those are unaccompanied children, but primarily people coming in as a family unit, generally one adult, one child.  We’re simply not set up for that,”  Johnson told WFDL news.  “Border patrol stations are really more like police stations.  They do have holding areas, but we are still way over capacity.”    Senator Johnson joined other lawmakers in  signing a letter asking the president and Homeland Security to implement  Operation Safe Return…a pilot program to process credible fear claims by immigrants.
