8-20-19 americorps crew spruces up hobbs woods

A group of volunteers with AmeriCorps spent last week in Fond du Lac County helping to beautify one of the county’s most popular recreation trails.  County Parks director, Sam Tobias, says the group of about nine young adults from across the country  helped construct a new hiking trail link at Hobbs Woods south of Fond du Lac.  “With the park trail plan we did for Hobbs Woods last year  they accomplished construction of a new loop of trail at the far east end of Hobbs Woods,”  Tobias told WFDL news.  “…through the woods, its about a thousand feet in length, so almost a quarter of a mile.”  Meanwhile, Tobias says the AmeriCorps crew also removed a washed out staircase leading to the trail  that winds along the creek.   The staircase has been deteriorating for years and heavy rains earlier this spring washed out the lower hiking trail at the park.
