8-22-19 election security

The Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator says one of her biggest worries heading into the 2020 elections will be organized efforts to confuse or mislead voters.   Meagan Wolfe says people need to be cognizant of where they are getting information and making sure its from a legitimate source.   Wolf said her agency will be working with local elections clerks to make sure they are using updated platforms and technology.   Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says election security is on everyone’s mind.  Freiberg says election security will be the focus of a conference in Wisconsin next month.  Freiberg says the first election security test may come in February if there  is  a primary election for Wisconsin Supreme Court.   “The bad actors could already start then,”  Freiberg told WFDL news.  “It’s not just the federal election.  They’re out there for any election.”    Wolfe says it is encouraging that a lot of people want to help secure democracy and elections,  not just in Wisconsin but across the country.
