2-21-20 auto repair shop fire-the latest

The Division Chief of Fire Prevention with Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue says its fortunate that a couple of workers were not seriously injured or worse when a fire broke out at an auto repair shop earlier this week.  The fire Sunday night at the Be Smart Auto Mall on Van Dyne Road destroyed the building and its contents and multiple cars parked near the front of the structure.  Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says the fire apparently started when gasoline iginited on the engine of a piece of equipment  that was being worked on inside the building.  “They were working on a piece of equipment and had changed the carburetor and got some gas on the motor where it was hot and it started a fire,”  Haase told WFDL news.  The workers were able to escape the building unharmed and dialed 911.
