2-22-20 fdl man sentenced to prison in pistol whipping case

A Fond du Lac man convicted in a pistol whipping incident is going to prison.  Fond du Lac judge Peter Grimm sentenced Desmond Hicks to seven years in prison and five years extended supervision.     Hicks was earlier convicted of felon in possession of a firearm and batter with a dangerous weapon as a repeat offender.    District Attorney Eric Toney stated that “violent gun crime remains a top priority of the District Attorney’s Office and we will continue to aggressively assist in the investigation and prosecution of these crimes in order to hold the defendants accountable and maintain community safety.   I’m proud of the work by Deputy District Attorney Douglas Edelstein in prosecuting this case and the excellent investigating by the City of Fond du Lac Police Department, led by Detective Lee F. Mikulec.”   Hicks was credited for 575 days he spent in jail awaiting trial.
