The state Department of Corrections says close to to 44 percent of inmates tested at the Waupun Correctional Institution have tested positive for coronavirus. As of Wednesday, 73 inmates at Waupun had been tested. Of those, 32 were positive and 35 were negative. The testing with help from the Wisconsin National Guard began Tuesday and is expected to conclude Thursday. Staff members are being tested as well. As of Wednesday, seven staff members at the prison had informed the corrections department of positive test results obtained off duty, according to the website.
