3-6-16 voter registration drive

If you need to register to vote for the first time, haven’t voted in awhile, or have changed your name or address: Voter Registration and Information will take place at
Fond du Lac Public Library:  
Sunday, March 6th —                           12-4 PM
Mondays March 7th and 14th —          1-5 PM
Forest Mall (Lenscrafter entrance):
Saturdays March 5th and 12th —          10 AM -6 PM
Moraine Park Technical College:
Thursday, March 10th —                      11-2 PM
UW-Fond du Lac:
Wednesday, March 9 —                12:15-1:30 PM
Monday, March 14 —                    12:15-1:30 PM
To register to vote in time for the April 5th Presidential Primary, State Supreme Court and Local Election, you can:

  1. a) come to the Clerk’s office on or before April 1st,
  2. b) send registration forms to your local clerk ASAP, along with a copy of an ID or other proof of identity and residence, as required, (available at the Clerk’s office, or fill out at GAB 131 form under the forms section of their website http://www.gab.wi.gov/forms )
  3. c) come to one of the locations of our Voter Registration Drive until March 15th, or
  4. d) go to the polls on election day, April 5th for voter registration at the polls.

For registration, you will need to bring along your WI Drivers License or ID number if you have one, or your SS # if you don’t have a drivers license or ID from Wisconsin, and one of the following items containing your name and current address :

  • A current and valid WI Driver License / ID Card
  • Any other official identification card or license issued by a Wisconsin governmental body or unit
  • An employee ID card with a photograph, but not a business card
  • A real property tax bill or receipt for the current year or the year preceding the date of the election
  • A residential lease (Does not count as proof of residence if elector submits form by mail)
  • A picture ID from a university, college or technical college coupled with a fee receipt
  • A picture ID from a university, college or technical college coupled with an on-campus housing listing provided by the university, college or technical college to the municipality that denotes US Citizenship
  • A utility bill for the period commencing not earlier than 90 days before the day registration is made
  • (Homeless voters only) A letter from an organization that provides services to the homeless that identifies the voter and describes the location designated as the person’s residence for voting purposes
  • A bank statement
  • A paycheck
  • A check or other document issued by a unit of government

We can also tell you where your polling place is, and how to find out whether you are currently registered.
This is the first election cycle that ID is required to vote on Election Day.  So, make sure you bring along what you need when you go to VOTE.
If you need an ID for voting, go to the DMV and ask for a Free ID.
– There’s a long list of documents needed to get an ID, but most people will be fine with a certified birth certificate, a Social Security card and a utility bill or cell phone bill.  They must be original documents, not copies.  For further information, you can call your City or Town Clerk or the Fond du Lac City Clerk’s office at 920-322-3430.  There is great information on the GAB website at http://www.gab.wi.gov .
