Fond du Lac city staff is recommending against a roundabout at a downtown Fond du Lac intersection. Public Works director Jordan Skiff says DOT staff has determined that a roundabout at the intersection of North Main Street and Merrill Avenue would not be the best option. “There are quite a few complications to adding a roundabout to that intersection,” Skiff told WFDL news. “Roundabouts tend to take significantly more right of way to make it work and there are four businesses, one on each of the corners, and at least one of those would be significantly affected if a roundabout were selected.” Skiff says he will tell the city council this week that city staff is recommending against a roundabout and look for council direction. The intersection is part of a reconstruction project on North Main Street scheduled to begin in 2022.
