5-13-16 fdl county clerk says kevin kennedy will be missed

The Fond du Lac County Clerk says she thinks retiring Government Accountability Board secretary Kevin Kennedy has been unfairly criticized over the years.  Kennedy announced this week he will retire at the end of June, a day before the GAB is eliminated.  Fond du lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg has worked closely with Kennedy over the years and thinks he did a great job during his nearly four decades in state elections.  “I feel its going to be a great loss,”  Freiberg told WFDL news.  “I know a lot of people don’t feel that way because they hear different negativities about Kevin.  Kevin did a great job.”   Kennedy drew the ire of many Republican state lawmakers who voted to do away with the nonpartisan board and replace it with the new elections and ethics commissions consisting of partisan appointees.  “He (Kennedy) did his job.  Some of the stuff he got blamed for its too bad the public didn’t understand the reasoning why he did it.  Some of the stuff wasn’t his fault, he was following what the legislature passed, what he was supposed to do.”
