5-26-20 memorial day holiday safety

The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says she is hoping not to see a spike in COVID-19 cases following the long Memorial Day Holiday weekend.    Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says encouraged residents to postpone or cancel all nonessential travel including travel to private or rental cabins,  and avoid gatherings of 10 or more people.  “We’re just urging everybody, please take it seriously,”  Mueller told WFDL news.  Mueller says even though the state is officially reopened with the state Supreme Court ruling, the virus is still circulating and remains highly contagious.   Mueller says if there are any new cases associated with gatherings over the weekend they would show up later this week.   There are 157 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Fond du Lac County, 52 active cases, 102 recovered cases, and six currently hospitalized.
