7-25-20 city of fdl hires chicago firm to conduct lakeside park feasibility study

The city of Fond du Lac has hired a Chicago firm to conduct a feasibility study on a Lakeside Park alternate master plan.   Public Works director Jordan Skiff says Johnson consultants has been hired to do the work.  Skiff says the firm was selected based on their experience and work on similar projects in the past.   The plan includes a restaurant on the lighthouse peninsula and amphitheater and parking lot on Oven Island.  Several residents spoke in opposition to the plan at this week’s council meeting.  Skiff says part of the consultant’s  work will be reviewing public comments.   Skiff acknowledges growing opposition to the project in recent weeks, but hopes the feasibility study will help answer many questions and concerns.  “I’m still hopeful we can work with all the perspectives out there,”  Skiff told WFDL news.   “…find some middle ground that would be acceptable to most.  Do that in a way that can allow some bigger things to happen in the park, but do it in a way that is sensitive to this type of feedback,  on where it should go and what scope it should be.”    The consultant’s report along with cost estimates are expected to be done by October.
