9-18-20 fdl county political party leaders call for stop to yard sign vandalism

Local leaders of the Fond du Lac County Democratic and Republican parties have issued a joint statement condemning recent vandalism, theft and destruction of political yard signs.  Tom Kitchen, with the Fond du Lac County Democratic party, says vandals have been targeting Joe Biden signs in particular.  Kitchen says the incidents have been going on since mid-July and has recently been accelerating.   Chairman of the Republican Party of Fond du Lac County Rohn Bishop says Trump signs have been targeted in the valley.   Bishop says one of the things we need to do better in society is learn how to respectfully agree to disagree with each other.  Bishop says senator Dan Feyen’s family received a threat this week and police are looking for a suspect.   He says people put political signs in their yard to endorse and candidate they agree with and believe and people need to leave other people’s stuff alone.  The maximum penalty if convicted of vandalizing or stealing a political sign is up to nine months in  jail and a $10,000 fine.
