9-25-20 fdl fire and rescue award

Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue is being recognized for it’s lifesaving treatment of  heart attack victims.   The Department has received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline EMS Gold Plus Award for implementing quality improvement measures for treating patients who experience severe heart attacks.   Fire and Rescue Division Chief of Fire Prevention Garth Schumacher says the award recognizes improving systems of care to rapidly identify suspected heart attacks, promptly notifying the hospital and trigger an early response from hospital personnel. Schumacher says every year  across the country more than 250,000 people experience the deadliest type of  heart attack caused by blockage of blood flow to the heart that requires timely treatment.
